NDC appeals to EC to publish Voters’ list

Sunyani, July 26, GNA – Mr Haruna Iddrisu, National Youth Organiser, of the National Democracy Congress (NDC), has requested the Electoral Commission (EC), to abide by the electoral laws of 1995 and publish the voters’ list.

Mr Iddrisu said Act 17 (1 & 2), enjoined the EC to compile the voters’ list and provide a copy to each of the political parties, six months before General Elections.

“Surprisingly we are barely left with five months for the December elections and yet the Commission has not done so,” he said, at a national Youth Working Committee Capacity- building workshop of the NDC at Sunyani.

The workshop was organised by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) and a Danish based organisation-International Multi-Party Democracy.

Dr Kwasi Jonah, Director of IEA, called on the political parties to improve their electoral programmes to receive constant support to remain active.

Mr John Asiedu-Nketiah, Member of Parliament for Wenchi West (Brong Ahafo Region), appealed to the Government to put in place conditions that would ensure the success of the 2004 General Election.
