Ho Polytechnic students asked to resume lectures

Ho, June 16, GNA – The Ho Polytechnic Alumni Association on Wednesday appealed to students of the polytechnic to call of their strike over job placement and resume lectures while government and other stakeholders address the issue.

A statement signed by Mr Lawrence Kwami Aziale, General Secretary of the Association, said it appreciated the position of the striking students but thought confrontation “will do neither the government, the stakeholders nor the students themselves any good”.

The statement appealed to President John Agyekum Kufuor, to “intervene and help deal with this issue once and for all”.

The statement said upon critical observation, “one wonders whether we as a nation were not ready before embarking upon the upgrading of the Polytechnics to tertiary status”.

It said most Ghanaians were wondering if the problem is “Beyond the solving capacity of the government and why as a nation we should find it difficult to change from one way of doing things.”
