Tema, May 31, GNA — A driver’s mate, who used Television to lure a 13 year old girl to have sex with her has been sentenced to eight years imprisonment by the Tema circuit court “B”.
Foster Kumah aged 28 years pleaded not guilty to defilement of a girl less than 16 years of age.
Chief Inspector Alice Gyamfi, prosecuting told the court, presided over by Mr Stephen Teye that on August 13, 2003 at about 9:30 pm, the victim was watching a television programme in a co-tenant’s room when the accused, who is housed in a kiosk in front of the victim’s house visited a friend.
She said the accused saw the victim dozing, so he woke her up and asked her to go and sleep in her own room.
Few minutes later, while the victim was fast asleep in her mother’s room, accused entered the room and jumped on her and started to have sex with her when victim started to scream that attracted some other tenants, accused took to his heels and abandoned the kiosk till a week later when he resurfaced and was arrested.
Chief Inspector Gyamfi said a report was made to the police at Ashaiman and a medical report form was issued to the victim. After investigations, he was charged with the offence.
