Illegal Forex Bureau Operators Arrested In Kumasi

Kumasi (Ashanti Reigion) 10 June, ’98 The Police and Bank of Ghana (BOG) officials in a joint operation at Asafo Market in Kumasi have arrested Kwame Adarkwa and Kofi Acheampong for allegedly operating a Forex Bureau without proper licence.

The team later extended their operations to Gate Park Communication Centre in the same area and arrested Yaw Brako, Managing Director of the Centre, in connection with the same transaction.

Disclosing this to the press in Kumasi, Inspector Augustine Arthur of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Office said, the Police seized 3.6 million cedis (about ?1,000) and a note book in which they had entered the code numbers and names of recipients.

He said, the suspects are on police inquiry bail as police investigation continues. gri
