Nana Akufo-Addo leaves for Dublin

Accra, May 7, GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufu-Addo, Minister of Foreign Affairs is expected to leave Accra on Friday night to attend the 5th ECOWAS-EU Ministerial dialogue scheduled for Dublin, Ireland on Monday, May 10.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday and signed by Mr Michael Ofori-Atta, Public Relations Officer said the meeting would deliberate on further areas of ECOWAS-EU Cooperation with special emphasis on peace and security in the West African Sub-Region. It said Nana Akufo-Addo would also attend the 6th Working Session of the International Contact Group on Liberia (ICGL) in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London on Tuesday, May 11.

The statement said the meeting would discuss current developments in the Mano River Union and particularly review developments in Liberia. The meeting would in addition, consider extending the mandate of the Group not only to cover the Mano River Union States of Guinea and Sierra Leone but also act as a standing body to assist West Africa in the resolution of her regional conflicts.

It said the ICGL had proved instrumental in the promotion of peace in Liberia and the Mano River Union.
