Medical students to train at St Dominic’s Hospital

Kade (E/R), May 5, GNA- The University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), has chosen the St Dominic’s Hospital at Akwatia as a teaching hospital for its housemen and post-graduates to do their housemanship and practical lessons.

The Kwaebibrem District Chief Executive, Mr Yaw Yiadom Boakye, who announced this at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the District Assembly at Kade on Tuesday, said the district would be privileged to have a lot of general medical practitioners and specialists to assist in solving health problems in the area.

He, however, pointed out that the project could only be fruitful if all the stakeholders were prepared to commit financial resources into the provision of decent residential accommodation for the doctors. Mr Yiadom Boakye said the Assembly and the management of the hospital and other philanthropists have decided to pool resources towards the provision of the project.

He said the Assembly had already released 200 million cedis out of its targeted contribution of 700 million cedis towards the commencement of the project.
