Akufo-Addo’s 110 ministers have not received salaries in 5 months – Mustapha Hamid

The Minister for Information Mustapha Hamid has disclosed that none of the 110 ministers under the Akufo Addo led-government have been paid since they assumed office.

According to him, the payment process for Ministers is yet to be completed, consequently the delay in paying them their salaries.

Mustapha Hamid in an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Saturday stated that it hasn’t been easy for ministers having to live without pay for the past five months.

“Ministers have not been paid…it’s not a very good phenomenon in our country that people get employed and after one year they are not taking salaries yet, and they happen to be teachers, nurses etc.

“So, if it’s happening to politicians, we should say that: ‘Well it’s good that it’s happening to them so that they will feel the pinch and correct the anomaly for all of us citizens’.”

Mustapha Hamid urged the Controller and Accountant General to work tirelessly to end the situation where workers work several months and sometimes years before they receive salary.
