Minority Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu has charged the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop hounding out appointees of the Mahama administration based on political affiliation.
Speaking at a political rally at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region as part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday, 10 June, Mr Iddrisu stated: “When you come to Ashaiman Assembly, they say these are NPP and those are NDC [but] they were there together as NDC and NPP when President Mahama was the President of the Republic. Why ask some of them to go home? We demand an end to the political discrimination of asking people to proceed on leave and asking people to go home.”
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale South said the NDC would not accept such conduct as part of Ghana’s civil or public service structure.
He charged the crowd at the rally ground to help revamp the NDC and reconnect the party to its social values as they also work to ensure that the party is brought back to power.
