Drivers advised to be cautious during Easter festivities

Abuom (B/A), March 29, GNA – Nana Owusu Korkor, Chairman of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) at Abuom in the Asunafo District of Brong Ahafo has called on drivers to be careful at this time of the year to prevent accidents during the celebration of Easter. He cautioned drivers to refrain from alcoholism, unnecessary overtaking, overloading and speeding at odd portions of the road, which were potential areas of fatal road accidents. Speaking to GNA at Abuom, Nana Owusu Korkor also advised the travelling public to desist from urging drivers to engage in acts likely to cause accidents.

He announced that the GPRTU had launched a special campaign to encourage stationmasters to carry out thorough inspections on drivers and their vehicles at vantage points as a measure to minimize rampant road accidents. Nana Owusu Korkor charged GPRTU guards to remain alert to ensure the safety of passengers and to redouble their efforts in the collection of revenue for the Union.
