Rainstorm causes havoc at Wenchi

Wenchi (B/A), March 1, GNA- A severe rainstorm at the weekend ripped the roofs of five buildings including those of three Roman Catholic schools and the Roman catholic Co-operative Credit Union at Wenchi in Brong Ahafo.

Eighty residents were rendered homeless and damage caused to property including personal effects was estimated at more than 500 million cedis.

Normal classes of affected schools have also been affected.

Mr. Paul Kwame Baffoe, Assembly Member has called on the District Disaster Management Organisation, philanthropists and NGOs to come to the aid of the victims.

He called on the communities to plant more tree seedlings near their houses to check such rain disasters. Telephone and electricity supplies were also affected.
