Amponsaahene (E/R) Feb. 17, GNA – The chiefs and the people of Amponsaahene near Suhum in the Suhum Kraboa Coaltar District are constructing a temporal 3 classrooms structures to house over 20 school children from taking classes under trees, and palmsheds.
The project is to cost at about 150 million cedis when completed and would also assist some of the school children from walking almost seven kilometres away from the town to Teacher Mante and Govinakrom. This was disclosed to the Ghana News Agency on Monday in an interview at Amponsaahene after a communual labour by Nana Agyare Amponsaah the second chief of the town, by the people.
Nana Amponsaah said the project, to be completed within a year was being undertaken though communal labour and contributions of 20,000 cedis a man and 10,000 cedis a woman, whiles non-residents pays 30,000 cedis each.
Mr. Ackonu Emmanuel, a teacher of the school and also chairman of the Parents and Teacher Association of the town commended the people of their communal spirit and said anytime it rains the children ought to close classes.
Mr. Ackonu, therefore, appealed to the Suhum-Kraboa Coaltar District Assembly and non-governmental organisations to come to their aid with building materials for earlier completion of the project.
