Aspiring CPP candidates asked to file their names

All aspiring parliamentary candidates on the ticket of the Convention People Party (CPP) in the Eastern Region have been asked to file their names at their constituency offices.

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the party, Nana Owusu Sekyere, was speaking at the first meeting of the Regional Executive Members at Koforidua on Thursday.

The meeting, attended by some national officers, reviewed the activities of the party in the constituencies and mapped out strategies for next years’ presidential and parliamentary elections.

Nana Owusu Sekyere who expressed concern about the acrimonies being traded between some political parties, advised members of the CPP to refrain from the use of abusive language during their campaigns.

“This will let the world know that CPP is, in fact, an enlightened party which achieved independence for Ghana, not to mention the role it played in the emancipation of Africa,” he said.

A former Member of Parliament in the Third Republic, Nana Attafuah, advised the electorate to reject politicians whose ambition is to win power through fair or foul means.”

Members of the Regional Executive expressed regret that most of the viable industries established by the First Republic under Dr Kwame Nkrumah were either divested or abandoned to rot and called on the electorate to give the mandate to the party to continue the good work of CPP.
