Fishing Menace Resrufaces In Half-Asini

Half-Asini (Western Region), 10 Nov.,

A greenish cotton-like substance which affected fishing activities in the Jomoro District two years ago has reappeared and is causing problems for fishermen. Mr. Kwablah Nyamaborh, head of a local fishing company at Half Asini, told reporters that the substance was found at the beach last week. According to him, the substance disappeared the whole of last year. He said if the quantity of the substance continues to increase most fishermen might be forced to leave or suspend fishing to avoid the destruction of their nets. When the substance was first found on the beach in 1995, the people believed it was some industrial waste, but the Environmental Protection Agency said it was Algae (a sea weed).
