Police officers given 10-day ultimatum to rearrest escaped criminals

The Tumu divisional Police Commander has given officers on duty a 10-day ultimatum to re-arrest suspects who broke jail on Sunday or face disciplinary action.

The Police have launched a manhunt for two prisoners who escaped from their custody last night.

The suspects escaped through the ceiling of the cell at the Tumu police station.

The escapees have been identified as Abdulai Alhassan being held for murder and Faisal Mohammed, a robbery suspect.

“We have given them 10 working days after which if we don’t find them we will look at other measures,” Police Commander in charge of the Tumu District ASP William Ayensu Asare said.

The two were supposed to appear before court Monday morning.

Several Police officers have been deployed to ensure that the two suspected criminals are re-arrested.
