Prez. Mahama defending EC logo wrong – Baako

Kweku Baako Jnr, Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide has expressed disgust over the new of logo of the Electoral Commission (EC).

Mr. Baako noted on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo that the new logo does not symbolize anything Ghanaian.

Calling a spade a spade, he asserted that the decision to change the current EC logo is a bad one and even far worse when the logo has nothing to do with our national identity.

He also hit hard on government officials who have hopped to the defense of the EC on the issue, claiming Ghanaians are more interested in the November 7 polls than the new logo.

To Kweku Baako, the new logo is a matter of concern to every Ghanaian because the EC will be using public funds to design it for official use.

“First of all, are they not using public funds for such thing? So, is it not of public interest? {2} The nature of the logo; is it also not of public interest? Shouldn’t it symbolize something that affects us as a people, our culture; our history. Is that not an issue?”

He also lambasted President John Dramani Mahama for wading into the discussions regarding the EC logo because in his view, the President should not have made any interventions to the effect of the EC decision.

“Unfortunately, even the President is getting involved and I was shocked. I thought that was the last area for the President to come in, about the logo debate. He ought not to have intervened at all; not for a moment.”
