Ketu District Launches Polio Immunization Day

Ative (Volta Region), 30 Oct.,

This year’s national immunization day for polio eradication in the Ketu district of the Volta region has been launched at Ative, near Dzodze, with a call on parents to forget taboos and have their children immunized against the six childhood-killer diseases. The district chief executive, Madam Jane Codelia Duwor, said this is necessary because the key to prosperity of any nation lies in the hands of its able-bodied persons. She appealed to parents to justify the huge sums of money government has invested in the polio eradication programme by turning out in their numbers to vaccinate their children. Madam Duwor said indiscriminate disposal of garbage and waste adversely affect the health of the people and appealed to the people to observe sound environmental hygiene. The district chief executive urged them not to deny their daughters access to education. Instead, every encouragement should be given to the girl-child to enable her realise her full potentials.
