NPP meets Klottey Korle aspirants to decide venue for re-run

National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled a meeting on Tuesday, February 16 with aspiring parliamentary candidates in the Klottey Korle Constituency to decide on the venue for the parliamentary re-run.

The party over the weekend announced a re-run of the polls after an Accra High Court annulled the August 2 results.

One of the aspirants, Phillip Addison, had sued the party for holding the primaries on August 2 without recourse to due process.

According to him, delegates had reached a consensus to hold the polls on a different date.

The cancelled results saw Nii Noi Nortey win by a landslide.

But with the new development, all three candidates including Nii Adjei Tawiah would have to contest the polls on Saturday, February 27.

Though Mr Nortey has threatened to scratch himself out of the race, he is expected to join Tuesday’s meeting to decide on the venue.

Meanwhile, the party has scheduled Saturday, March 5 for the primaries in Nkwanta South Constituency in the Volta Region.

Nominations were opened Monday, February 15 and scheduled to close on Wednesday, February 17.
