The suspended National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has sued the party and acting Chairman Freddie Blay over his indefinite suspension by the party.
A writ filed at an Accra High Court Monday is praying the court to interpret the party’s constitution which he contends has been grossly violated following the procedure adopted to suspend him.
Mr Afoko last month stated at a press conference that he would head to court to seek redress over his suspension after exhausting internal party structures.
“After exhausting all the internal processes I am left with no option than to head to the court to seek interpretation of my party’s constitution.
“I am not only doing this for myself but for everyone else including the flagbearer of our party, because today it is the national chairman, the next time it may be a flagbearer.
“It is wrong for some seventy people to sit in a room somewhere in Accra and decide to remove an elected official,” Mr. Afoko said.
The writ also states that the party and Mr. Blay have eight days to respond to the suit failure to which judgment would be given in default.
