Decisions of assemblies should reach citizens – DCE

The members of the Akyemansa District Assembly, in the Eastern Region have been called upon to ensure that every decision taken in the house reaches the people.

Mr Tom Budu, District Chief Executive, who made the call at the assembly’s fee fixing and budgeting meeting, said this would make the decentralised policy of the government become very effective.

He said it would also give the citizens the opportunity to take interest in the affairs of the assembly, which would enable them to contribute their quota to fruitful solutions to problems retarding development.

Mr Budu tasked the assembly committees like finance, planning, works, among others, to review fees and budgets so as to enhance tax revenue.

He expressed the hope that by the end of the year there would positive outcome of the budget review of the assembly.

Mr Emmanuel Agyapong Manu, the Presiding Member of the Assembly appealed to the staff of the Revenue Department to continuously educate the people on the importance of paying tax and tolls.
