Rotary club organises Family Health Day screening exercise

The Dworwulu Rotary Club Accra and the Rotary Club of Accra-City have jointly organized a three day Health screening exercise dubbed Family Health Day for its members and the general public at the Madina Central Market, which ends today.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the exercise, Mr. Johnson Dweben, the President of Dworwulu Rotary Club Accra, said Rotary Clubs have embarked on a free health screening exercise in five regions of the country.

According to Mr. Dweben, the exercise, which begun on Thursday, is targeting about 1000 people, and that, as at 12:30 hours Saturday over 942 persons had so far been screened.

The screening involves blood pressure test, HIV Test, De-worming, Immunization, Family Planning, Diabetes tests and General Counselling.

He said all those who went through the screening exercise and had any medical problems were referred to the nearest Hospitals for further check-ups.

Male condoms were distributed to all those who went through the screening exercise whilst all participants were given de-wormers before leaving the centre.

Mr. Dweben said the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Health Seekers Network were supporting the Health Screening exercise.
