Association of Methodist Choir launches anniversary

A Mr Paul Adomako Kwaku Frimpong-Manso Accra Diocesan Chairman of the Association of Methodist Church Choirs of The Methodist Church, Ghana, has called on musicians to produce songs that promote peace and unity.

He noted that songs should be entertaining, educative and above all promote peace and unity, and that, anything short of these does not augur well for national development.

Mr Frirmpong-Manso made the call at the launch of the 40th Anniversary celebration and the 16th Biennial Conference of the Association in Accra.

The week- long celebration is on the theme “Witnessing to Christ: Holistic Spirituality and Service to Current and Succeeding Generations”.

Activities planned for the celebrations includes Hospital visitation, Health Screening, Seminars, Workshops, Float, Fun Games, Music Festivals, Blood Donation and Bible Quiz.

Mr Frimpong-Manso urged Christians to use songs as an effective tool to communicate with God and also avoid producing songs, which tend to insults and cast insinuations.

The Accra Diocesan Chairman said, last year, the association visited the Fevers Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the Psychiatric Hospital where some patients got healed through songs ministration.

He said the association had also offering support to the poor and the needy to improve upon their health standards over the years.

Miss Essie Etsibah, Diocesan Internal Auditor and the Chairperson of the Planning Committee, also urged musicians to use music to propagate the gospel.

She appealed to Ghanaians to take active interest in the National Sanitation exercise, which was launched by the government.

The Right Reverend Titus Kofi Awotwi Pratt, Bishop of Accra and the Presiding Bishop-elect of The Methodist Church Ghana, is expected to give a talk on the theme for the conference.
