Members of Later Day Saints donate blood

Members of the Church of Later Day Saints in the New Juaben Municipality and Suhum have organized a four hour clean up and blood donation exercise at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.

The exercise was in commemoration of the ‘All Africa Helping Day’ of the church, which is observed annually on every second Saturday of August by the branches of the Church in the whole of Africa to offer services to their communities.

Speaking to the media after the exercise, Mr Appiah Kweku-Boateng, the Koforidua District President of the Church, explained that, all branches of the church in Africa are observing the day to offer service to their communities as was done by Jesus Christ when he was on earth.

He said the exercise at the hospital was the third so far by the members of the church in New Juaben Municipality and Suhum.

He said, the members of the church decided to include blood donation because it is one of the most essential things required in life saving at the hospital and people are traumatized when their relations require blood and could not get donors.

Mr Isaac Ampomah Boateng, Deputy Municipal Environmental Officer, who represented the New Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, congratulated the church for their efforts and urged other churches to emulate their example to help society.
