Ho flooded, heavy storm uproots trees

A heavy downpour in Ho Saturday afternoon has resulted in flooding in parts of the regional capital of the Volta region.

A heavy storm which heralded the rains uprooted some trees and blew away some structures.

A section of the road leading to the Ho central market was flooded as a result of the overflow of a storm drain across the road.

Vehicles had it tough moving between the Market Square and the Ray-Makossa-OLA traffic intersection, according to Starr News’ Lambert Atsivor.

Scores of shops and homes along storm drains at Ho Bankoe, Anlokordzi and adjoining areas were flooded, he reported.

Sister Pat, owner of a popular cosmetics shop ‘Accra Cosmetics’ has been counting her losses as items worth thousands of Ghana cedis got destroyed. She blamed the flooding on choked gutters.

Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are on an assessment tour of the affected areas in the municipality.
