Alavanyo-Nkonya curfew re-imposed

Government has re-imposed a Curfew on Alavanyo and Nkonya Townships according to a statement released on Friday by the Interior Minister.

Mr Mark Owen Woyongo, in the statement said the curfew period is between 1800 hours and 0600 hours each day, and that, it was on the advice of the Volta Regional Security Council.

According to the statement, Government expresses its appreciation to the Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, Youth and people of the area for their efforts in ensuring peace in the area.

Mr Woyongo asked the people to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use the established mechanisms for the resolution of their disagreements.

“Government will like to reiterate that, there is a ban on all persons in the two towns and their environs from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons and any individual found with arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement added.
