Kumbungu Assembly confirms nominee

Assembly Members of the Kumbungu District on Thursday unanimously voted to confirm Alhaji Alhassan Musah as the District Chief Executive.

Alhaji Musah, who was re-nominated by President John Mahama after he failed to receive the endorsement of the Assembly in the first attempt, polled 33 votes representing 97 per cent out of the 34-member mouse while one ballot was rejected.

Alhaji Limuna Mohammed-Muniru, the Northern Regional Minister, commended assembly members for confirming the nominee and that their action would be rewarded with development projects.

He said the absence of a DCE in any district stalled development and appealed all assemblies to always come to a consensus and added “Normally if you don’t come together to confirm the president’s nominee development would slow down.”

He said the national cake would continue to be distributed equitably and called for peace, unity and togetherness among the people especially those in the Northern Region to facilitate development.

Alhaji Musah thanked the President for the re-nomination and assembly members for their understanding and the love they exhibited by overwhelmingly endorsing him and assured that he would work harder to promote the interest of the assembly.
