Medical Doctor builds Police Post

A medical doctor has single handedly, built a 15,000-Ghana-Cedi Police Post at Apire near Santasi in Kumasi, to help provide people in the area with adequate security protection.

Dr. Charles Dwamena, who is the Executive Director of the TAED Foundation, on Monday, handed over the structure to the police administration at a ceremony.

He spoke of plans to provide additional such facilities at Kwadaso-Nsuom, Asuoyeboa and Tanoso.

This is part of his contribution towards efforts at reducing crime in the society.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, hailed the project, and said it would help maintain strong police presence in the area.

That would provide a disincentive to criminals and enable law-abiding citizens to go about their business activities without fear.

He appealed to the public to give more support to the Police, by way of residential accommodation, supply of vehicles and motor bikes, to enhance performance.

DCOP Boakye also called for the formation of Neighbourhood Watch Committees, to aid the crime fight, adding that, all should share the responsibility of ensuring security.
