K’si journos to boycott Manhyia over ‘inhumane treatment’

Journalists in the Ashanti region have resolved to boycott events organized by Manhyia.

They claim most journalists have suffered hostilities at the hands of persons working at the palace of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu the second.

The decision was taken Saturday when a journalist was attacked while covering the 80th anniversary of the Ashanti Confederacy.

They say they would only rescind their decision if the Asantehene meets them over their concerns.

One of the aggrieved journalists who spoke to Starr News said they have had enough of the maltreatment from the Manhyia palace.

“Working under Otumfuo is a very great thing but the problem is with his guards and some of the sub-chiefs.

“Even getting closer to him to record his voice when he is speaking is a problem. Whenever we are coming to Manhyia it’s like we are going to a battlefield so we are in support of the decision to boycott events here”.
