No road crash in Kete Krachi

Mr Sebastian Akyeampong, Volta Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC) on Wednesday commended the Kete-Krachi District for posting a clean sheet of road crashes in the last quarter of 2014.

“There was no single case of road crash and it is simply the best New Year message and gift and we commend the District,” he told Ghana News Agency in an interview regarding the region’s road safety performance in 2014.

A total of 645 road crashes were reported in 2014, killing 126, injuring 609 and involving 855 vehicles.

Mr Akyeampong attributed Kete-Krachi’s achievement to enforcement of road safety regulations and campaign on passenger awareness and involvement in the fight against crashes.

He said Kete-Krachi, which had been consistent in decreasing cases of road crashes recorded 12 cases in 2013.

Mr Akyeampong said in 2013, a total of 14 vehicles were involved in crashes in the District with one pedestrian knock down.

He said in that same year, two motorbikes were involved in road crashes.
