Chief and trader face fraud charges at a circuit court

Two persons, Nana Agyei Boadi I, chief of Barekese and Nana Akuah Bakomah, a trader, are facing two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime and defrauding by false pretences at a circuit court in Kumasi.

Particulars of the offences state that the two in September, 1998, conspired with Nana Akyamfom Gyaminim Asare II (deceased) who was the Akwamuhene of Asafo to defraud one Kwasi Prempeh of 16 million cedis under the pretext of selling two building plots at West Nhyiaeso to him whilst knowing that the said land was zoned as a nature reserve and not available for sale as a residential plot.

The case could not be heard by the court last week as the magistrate called Mr Prempeh and the prosecutor to his chambers during an argument between prosecutor and Mr Prempeh.

A new date is therefore to be fixed for the hearing of the case.
