“…if you listen to what everyone is saying, I would be let down if the meeting ends up maintaining the prices or even raising it. If it happens that way, it could lead to a massive demonstration against the government” said Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI-Ghana.
The IMANI Boss was speaking to a scheduled meeting by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
The NPA will on Monday 29th December, 2014 hold a meeting to review the prices of petroleum products.
A statement signed by the Manager in charge of Public Relations and Consumer Services at the NPA, Mr Yaro Kasambata, said the reviewed fuel prices would take effect from December 31, 2014.
In an interview with PEACE NEWS on his expectation of the scheduled meeting by the NPA, Mr. Cudjoe said the NPA will be digging their own graves if they review the prices upwards.
However, he was hopeful that the NPA will heed to the call of Ghanaians and reduce the prices.

The NPA is one of the few government institutions that listens; unlike the Electoral Commission (EC), the NPA I believe will listen” he opined.
Currently, a gallon of petrol sells at pump for almost GhC15 a gallon whiles diesel goes for GHC 13 but the call for a reduction in the prices has been particularly loud recently due to the price of crude oil on the World market.
