It is not sinful to celebrate Christmas – Rev Appiah-Kubi

The Reverend Justice Appiah-Kubi of the Grace Baptist Church, Amakom-Kumasi, has said there is absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas as some people might otherwise want Christians to believe.

He said the argument that Christmas is not Biblical is only meant to create doubt in the minds of many a Christian and must be rejected.

The occasion must, therefore, be observed as a memorial of God’s gift to mankind, he said, in a Christmas sermon he titled “the Qualities of Joseph”.

“Christians at Christmas remember God’s love for them through the giving of Jesus Christ to the world as a gift,” he explained.

However, he said, Christians must draw lessons from Joseph, the father of Jesus as they mark the occasion.

Joseph observed the birth of Christ in all righteousness, therefore, the occasion should be enjoyed with all righteousness, he advised.

Additionally, he said, Joseph was discreet when he found out that Mary was carrying a baby that was not his and he did not make her a public ridicule.

“Joseph followed God’s guidance and disciplined himself,” he stated.

Rev. Appiah-Kubi, therefore, urged Christians to demonstrate such qualities during the festival and beyond.
