Baby found in garbage bin in Kpando

A four-month-old baby has been put under medical care at the Margaret Marquart Hospital at Kpando after she was discovered and rescued from a public garbage container, Tuesday night.

A hospital source told Starr News’ Volta Regional correspondent Lambert Atsivor, the baby girl was brought to the hospital at about 7:30pm by a woman who said after disposing off her garbage at the Kpando-Gabi dump site, “heard a shocking sound of a baby’s cry coming from somewhere below in the container.”

The woman told hospital officials she traced the sound of the baby’s cry to a polyethene bag in which she was tied.

The baby is said to be in good condition as the police have begun a search for the mother.

The mother if found and arrested is likely to be charged with attempted murder, according to Ghana’s laws.
