Doctors at the Ho District Hospital on Friday dismissed speculations ascribing money and stones vomited by a patient at the hospital on Thursday to the supernatural.
The patient vomited 212,000 cedis in 5,000 cedis and 20,000 cedis denominations and a 2,000 cedi note.
He also brought out some pieces of stones wrapped in polythene.
Dr E. K. Akorli, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, told the GNA that the 40-year old patient, Mr Alexander Foli, had a psychiatric history dating back to 1989 shortly after he had been repatriated to Ghana from Germany.
Dr Akorli said since 1989 when Mr Foli underwent treatment for his problem there had not made a follow-up for his condition to be monitored.
“He has been swallowing stones and this is not the first time”, Dr Akorli said.
Dr Daniel Agbley, a Medical Doctor at the hospital, also told the GNA in the male ward where Mr Foli is on admission that the x-ray picture of his stomach showed that there were more of similar objects.
A relative of Mr Foli confirmed that he had a mental problem but had been normal and working at a Communication Centre at Ho until recently when his mother noticed that he had been swallowing pieces of stone.
