I warned Nitiwul not to talk about cocaine – Speaker

There are rules set in every home and a decision by the deputy minority leader in parliament to flout the authority of the Speaker of Parliament, forced proceedings to be suspended by ten minutes yesterday.

Hon. Dominic Nitiwul caused a stir in the House when he deliberately ceased to comment on the recent budget that was read in the House, but mockingly lifted two bags of rice, and attributed its weight equivalent to that of the “cocaine” Nayele Ametefeh shamelessly smuggled from Ghana to the United Kingdom.

This action, according to Peace FM’s parliamentary correspondent, Emmanuel Akorli, angered the Speaker of the House, Edward Doe Adjaho and he explained to the legislators why he had a bone to pick with Dominic Nitiwul.

Hon. Adjaho is said to have stated that before proceedings begun, Hon. Nitiwul had walked up to him to inform him that he wanted to talk about the cocaine saga rather than comment on the 2015 budget as expected of them.

But the speaker wasn’t enthused about his suggestion and advised him to hold his peace until a statement has been made about it. Hon. Adjaho was later taken by surprise when he heard the very man he cautioned, turn around and do the exact thing he was told not to do.
