Birim Central Education Directorate supplies materials to Schools

The Birim Central Municipal Education Directorate, has supplied furniture, stationery and some educational equipment, to various schools in the Municipality, to enhance teaching and learning.

The items included 8,142 boxes of white and coloured chalks, 200 desks and 30 each of teachers’ chairs and tables.

Mr Fred H Kpoor, Municipal Director of Education, disclosed this in an interaction with the Ghana News Agency Media Auditing and Development Tracking team at Akyem Oda.

The GNA, STAR-Ghana Media Auditing and Tracking of Development projects is an initiative launched to promote participatory democracy, social accountability and good governance at the district level.

Mr Kpoor said, even though the items provided were not enough, they had stabilized the situation.

He said the Municipal Assembly has also appealed for support from the Akyem Oda and the Akyem-Asene/ Akyem- Manso/Akyem- Akroso Members of Parliament.

Mr Kpoor said, there was no problem with staffing in the various schools in the Municipality, and the circuit supervisors had also intensified their monitoring roles in the schools to ensure zero-teacher-absenteeism.
