Even Mahama endorses AFAG demo – NPP

The National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, believes President John Mahama supports the anti-corruption demonstration against his government.

Pressure group – Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) – Wednesday, marshaled about 2000 people including Afoko and other NPP leading members to demonstrate against what they claimed as the poor handling of the economy and alarming spate of corruption.

The demonstration dubbed “Aagbe wor” (We’re dying) was to draw government’s attention to the high cost of living in Ghana as well as kick against massive corruption in the public sector.

Afoko told Starr News President Mahama’s comments on the increasing spate of corruption in his government is evidence of his endorsement of actions that kick against the menace.

“The President is on record to have said corruption is a problem in our country, so I believe that in spirit he should be supporting us. Physically, he is not here but in spirit he is,” Afoko stated.

“What we’re doing is not out of the ordinary, we are doing what every Ghanaian is praying for.”

Afoko was among a host of NPP bigwigs including the Minority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who joined AFAG on the streets of Accra to protest against what they described as poor economic conditions and corruption under the Mahama-led NDC administration.
