Doe Adjaho is head of state

Speaker of Parliament Edward Doe Adjaho is expected to act as head of the country in the absence of President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.

President Mahama will be in Burkina Faso Wednesday morning in an effort to restore civilian rule to the beleaguered northern neighbours of Ghana while Vice President Amissah-Arthur is in India attending the Indian Economic Summit.

Speaker Adjaho is expected to hold the fort until at least the president returns Wednesday evening.

This will be the second time the former legislator for Akatsi South Constituency will act in that position after doing so in September last year.

He was congratulated by members of both sides of the House on Tuesday, when he announced the arrangement.
