Don’t take our prevailing peace for granted – Veep cautions

Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has cautioned Ghanaians not to take the peace prevailing in the country for granted.

He therefore asked the youth to endeavor to live in peace and shun indiscipline, criminality and immorality.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur said this when he joined the muslim faithful for the national celebration of this year’s Eid-Ul-Adha at Sekondi-Takoradi in the Western Region.

He called on Muslims to offer special prayers for the peace and continued political and socio-economic development of the country.

Radio Ghana’s Correspondent, Seth Eyiah, who was with the Veep reports that Vice President Amissah-Arthur asked Muslims to dedicate themselves to the study of the teachings of the Holy Prophet Mohammed.

They should also be guided by the spiritual values and the moral precepts that he cherished and passionately advocated so that peace, social justice, tolerance and equality will prevail in the homes, the communities and the country as a whole.

The Vice President was upbeat about the the economy bouncing back due to the measures put in place by the government.

On Cholera and Ebola, Vice President Amissah-Arthur urged Ghanaians to take seriously the ongoing public education and observe proper and hygienic environmental practices.

For his part, the western regional Chief Imam Sheikh Ustaz Ali Hassan Ali asked Ghanaians to pray for peace, development and social cohesion. He called for a sustained interfaith co-existence among Ghanaians.

Eid-ul-Adha is the festival of sacrifice. It is a day of remembrance and feast honoring Prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his son Iskar as an act of faith and a sign of total obedience to Allah.
