Reckless Cab driver fined

The Ajumako Magistrate’s Court has fined Michael Ewusi, a 25 year old taxi driver, GH¢1200.00 for careless and inconsiderate driving; and negligently causing harm.

In default, the convict would go to prison for two years.

Ewusi pleaded guilty to both charges.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Daniel Tawiah told the court, presided over by Mr Alfred Rockson Kpodo, that on May 13, Ewusi was driving a vehicle from Denkyira to Mankessim but at Enyan Maim his vehicle knocked down Mary Quansah, an 11 year-old girl, at about 2030 hours .

Ewusi, consequently, conveyed the victim to the Saltpond Hospital, and she was later referred to the Winneba Hospital for treatment.

The presiding judge advised commercial drivers to be extra cautious and protect the lives of commuters.

He said those found guilty of driving offences would be required to attend DVLA courses and examinations before new driver’s licenses would be issued to them.
