Nana Akumfi Ameyaw III statue unveiled

A GH¢ 11,500.00 statue of the late Nana Akumfi Ameyaw III, Techimanhene and Founder of Techiman Central Market and Bono Kyempim Federation was unveiled at Techiman.

It is to honour the late Nana Akumfi Ameyaw III who reigned from 1944-1961.

The statue was financed by Nana Apenteng Fosu Gyeabour, Banmuhene and Hansuahene of Techiman Traditional Area and Executive Director of ENCOM Hotel.

It was jointly unveiled by Nana AfiaAbrafi Koto, Queen mother of Techiman Traditional Area and Nana Ama Amissah III, Paramount Queen mother and President of Central Region Queen mothers Association of Mankessim.

The unveiling formed part of activities marking the 10th anniversary celebration of the enstoolment of Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, Techimanhene as Bono Kyempem Duaduakwahene on March 14, 2004.

The anniversary celebration is on the theme “Strengthening the partnership between Techiman Traditional Authorities and stakeholders to utilize opportunities for development”.

Oseadeeyo Ameyaw said the Techiman market is being patronized by people from Burkina Faso, Niger, Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Togo, La Cote d’Ivoire, Europe and America making it a leading market in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He assured the people of Techiman of the determination to build and strengthen the cordial relationship with stakeholders to harness resources for development for the benefit of the people and Ghana.

Nana Gyeabour who is also Chairman of the anniversary planning committee called on traditional rulers to be proactive and utilize the natural resources in their areas for the benefit of the people.

He stressed the need for the promotion of education in the area, especially for girls and called on the youth to be self-discipline.
