Nine escape death on Koforidua-Asesewa road

Nine persons aboard a Hyundai H100 vehicle escaped death when their vehicle, travelling from Asesewa to Koforidua, skidded off the road into the bush to avoid hitting a taxi that crossed it.

The Taxi, an Opel Astra Caravan, with registration number ER 3787-X crossed the Hyundai at Dawa, a community in the Upper Manya Krobo District.

The Hyundai bus bounced and somersaulted once before crashing into a tree, but no major injuries were recorded.

The driver, however, complained about pains in the left arm while some female passengers complained of minor chest pains.

The taxi driver, who plies his trade from Dawa to Asesewa, ran away after he was threatened by some passengers in the Hyundai bus.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Madam Yaa Dora, a trader, who was on the bus, said had it not been the defensive skills exhibited by the driver, they could have crashed to death.

Madam Akua Asantewaa, one of the victims, called for the arrest of the taxi driver, saying, his carelessness could have caused them their lives.
