Indiscipline cause of Ghana’s economic challenges – Rawlings

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has blamed the country’s economic challenges on indiscipline among the populace.

“I am however not confident we can achieve much if as individuals we do not tackle the level of indiscipline that is engulfing us,” Former President Rawlings stated on Thursday, August 14 when he was conferred with an honourary doctorate degree by the University of Education, Winneba.

He was honoured together with Former Nigeria President General Abdulsalami Abubakar and Professor Jophus Anamuah-Mensah.

The retired flight lieutenant asked government to lead the way in ensuring probity and accountability in order to get the citizenry to follow suit.

“We have never paused to quantify the huge costs of such levels of indiscipline and indiscretion and until we revive our conscience and sense of individual responsibility and start policing each other, we will continue to build a tight economic and political noose round our neck.”
