“Incompetent, clueless Mahama” charge: NDC will return fire – Amaliba

A Legal practitioner and member of the governing party in Ghana, Abraham Amaliba, says the National Democratic Congress will respond to accusations of incompetence and cluelessness leveled against the country’s president, John Mahama, by opposition presidential aspirant, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Launching his bid to lead the New Patriotic Party for the third time, the former foreign affairs Minister told supporters in the capital, Accra, that the Ghanaian economy is struggling as a result of the incompetence and cluelessness of the Mahama administration.

“In our quest to wrest power from the incompetent hands of John Mahama, our party, over the last 7 months, has held elections from polling station, constituency, regional, right up to the national level, and in the process elected some 140,000 executives and officers to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years,” Akufo-Addo said

“At the heart of the crisis Ghana is facing is a crisis of confidence in leadership.”, adding that: “There can be no better Ghana with the current clueless and uncaring leadership,” he charged.

Reacting to the two-time presidential candidate’s accusations against the President, Amaliba told Accra-based Joy FM, Saturday, that the governing party feels slighted by Akufo-Addo’s description of the president as incompetent and clueless.

He said: “He has fired the first salvo and he should wait, more salvos will come at him. It is an insult to refer to the president in such manner; what you are doing is to debase the presidency and to tell other nationals in the country that there is somebody ruling this country who is not competent to be there.”

According to Amaliba, it was unfair for the NPP flagbearer hopeful to use such words esident, especially, when the two of them have worked side-by-side in Parliament before.

“When he was in parliament with the president, he knew that the president is not incompetent, he knew his pedigree,” he stated.
