Talensi MP meets Chiefs in Constituency

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Talensi in the Upper East Region, Hon John Tiah, at the weekend interacted with Chiefs, elders and opinion leaders in his constituency to discuss possible strategies in bringing enhanced development to the area.

The MP made it clear to the people that development could only thrive in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of conflicts, adding that as custodians of the land, the chiefs should provide the requisite security and help translate the people’s desire into reality.

Hon. John Tiah expressed appreciation to government for giving approval for the creation of a new district for the Nabdam-Talensi area, and appealed to the people to accept in good faith, government’s choice of a capital for the district.

The MP reminded the people that litigations and controversies over the citing of a district capital in 1985 during the then PNDC government deprived them of a district.

The Nabdam-Talensi constituency was one of the new districts recently announced by President J A Kufuor to be created in the region during his maiden visit to the region in the latter part of last year.
