Political Activist, Dr Sekou Nkrumah, has apologised unreservedly to Ghanaians for supporting the Mills-Mahama presidential ticket in 2008.
‘In 2007, I joined the NDC political party. I’ve always said now we’ve two main political parties in Ghana. I knew exactly what I was doing and I have no regrets for doing that at the time because I realised it was a more revolutionary dynamic platform, but I’ll say it here today that I must apologise to Ghanaians for supporting the NDC Candidate in the 2008 elections, that’s the late Prof Mills and his running mate John Mahama’, Dr Nkrumah told XYZ Breakfast Show host Moro Awudu on Tuesday.
According to him, both late Prof Mills and President John Mahama have been a disappointment.
He wondered why it is that the revolutionary platform presented by the NDC ‘cannot bring about a leadership that can best represent it and best serve the interest of Ghana’.
Dr Nkrumah has been vacillating between parties since 2007 when he ditched his father’s Convention People’s Party (CPP), to join the NDC.
He served as Coordinator of the National Youth Authority in the Mills-Mahama administration following the NDC’s victory in the 2008 elections but continued to be a harsh critic of the late President John Mills’ style of running the country. He was fired consequently but remained an NDC member until he declared support for the 2012 Flagbearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo just months before the last elections.
In another flip, the youngest son of Ghana’s first President, in April 2013, abandoned his support for Nana Akufo-Addo and rejoined the NDC but has remained a harsh critic of President Mahama.
