Court jails farm labourer 10 years for stealing

Bibiani Circuit Court has convicted a farm labourer, Mahmud Naboni, 28, to 10 years in imprisonment in hard labour for stealing.

He pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Kofi Erzuah, told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Ankamah that the convict robbed a cocoa purchasing clerk of Ghc26, 000.

He said on December 18, 2011, the convict, together with two others, attacked the clerk at Essaeso near Sefwi-Akontombra in the Western Region.

Prosecution said the police arrested Mahmud Naboni, Wahabu Gruma while Kobena Mahama escaped.

However, the prosecutor said, Gruma died in the course of the trial.
