The Ho Municipal Council of Labour says it is seeking a permit from the police to organise a peaceful demonstration on Friday November 15, over the recent utility tariff hikes.
It said the letter seeking the permission was addressed to the Volta Regional Police Commander.
This was divulged at a Council of Labour meeting on Friday at which a resolution was passed declaring support to the leadership of the Trade Union Congress and organised labour in their fight for the reduction in the high utility tariffs.
The resolution was addressed to the Executive Secretary of the Public Utility Regulatory Commission (PURC) and copied to the Ministers of Energy, Employment and Labour Relations and Water Resources, Works and Housing.
It was jointly signed by Madam Celestine Kodzi, the first Vice-Chairperson and Mr Anthony Nyalemegbe, Secretary.
The resolution gave the PURC up to November 18, to reduce the high tariffs.
It observed that the utility tariffs had worsened the plight of the ordinary Ghanaian faced with the ever-increasing high cost of living.
The resolution urged the PURC to find a means of staggering the increase.
