Two shot dead at Yeji over chieftaincy dispute

Two people died and 12 others received various degrees of injures during a youth durbar at Yeji in the Brong Ahafo Region last Friday.

The incident occurred after a chief in the area who is not recognized by a faction decided to attend the programme when he had not been invited.

According to the Ghana News Agency, as soon as the chief arrived, a number of unidentified men in a taxi fired gun shots and killed the two. Several others were injured.

The deceased have been identified as 40-year-old Kwadwo Yakubu and Kofi David, 32 years old.

Brong Ahafo Regional Police Public Affairs Director, ASP Christopher Tawiah, has confirmed the incident. No arrests have been made yet.
