32-year- old Teacher installed Chief of Numereso

A 32-year-old Economics tutor at the Christ the King Catholic Senior High School at Obuasi, Francis Ababio, was on Tuesday installed Chief of Numereso, a farming community within the Amansie District of Ashanti, under the stool name Nana Francis Yaw Antwi.

He succeeded Nana Owusu Agyei, who died three years ago.

The new Numereso Chief, whose nomination, endorsement and final installment was unanimously approved by all the kingmakers, had earlier been carried on the shoulders by his teeming supporters amidst traditional music and dance through the principal streets of the town.

While commending the kingmakers and the people of the town, Nana Yaw Antwi pledged to fight against illegal logging operations and the chainsaw menace in the area, as well as ensure that illegal mining was checked. He promised to cooperate with the people and the sub-chiefs towards the rapid development of the area and identified education as one of his keys priorities.

“One important thing that I would also seek is unity. It is only when we are united that we can move together to develop our community”.
