NDC, NPP asked to give peace a chance

The Anglican Bishop of Cape Coast Diocese, Right Rev. Bishop Daniel Adotei Allotey, has appealed to the political party leaders and their followers to continue to “give peace a chance” in the country.

Specifically, the Bishop directed the appeal to the two leading political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and their supporters

Speaking at the opening of the 2nd Session of the Fifth Synod of the Diocese in Winneba, Bishop Allotey also appealed to the print and electronic media practitioners to make every effort to help the nation move on in peace and fruitful development.

The six-day Synod is under the theme: “Being capable of doing all things in Christ who strengths us”.

Bishop Allotey urged Ghanaians to make every effort to maintain the relative peace the country was enjoying at the moment.

“May Ghana continue to be the beacon of true and genuine democracy for international communities to acknowledge and applause,” he said.

The Central Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong, in an address read for him by the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Ephraim appealed to Ghanaians to accept the outcome of the judgment.

“Ghana is greater than any party; let us not indulge in acts that would derail the development path that we are pursuing. Ghana cannot afford to backslide into political instability and insecurity”.

There were fraternity messages from the Winneba Diocese of Methodist, Catholic, Presbyterian and the Winneba Local Council of Churches and other organizations.
